When I changed the power cables around, I decided to reduce the multiplier back down to 13x, which is stock. With half life 2 i can usualle play for about 15 minutes before it freezes, same with chronicles of riddick demo. at first, i thought the CPU temp gauge was broken (reading above 70C for my p4 2.4 B). from video drivers, to new AGP drivers, to tweaks, to registry editors... I do always ensure I try the latest drivers, and 'next most recent' drivers for *everything*. When the video GPU overheats, the card shuts down to prevent damage, and I think this is what is happening to you.
So, last night I had another look at the Histech manual for the graphics card. you could try rivatuner, http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/ also theres a problem with ati's newest drivers that are out,i heard quite a few people upgraded to them,just because some people like to upgrade and Then the other two should go into the HDD and Graphics card. I did this by upping the Multiplier to 14x. you have to remove the stock heatsink and fan. I've installed ATI's Linux driver on it, but since I'm running Fedora ("X-Server" kernal, which they don't support), I get no accelleration. Still crashed.
