First time around, I used the AMD heatsink, which came with a preapplied square of a thermal solid/paste.

gmv Guest Hello; I changed from an Asylum Geforce 4200ti 128M AGP8X to a MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP8X and got random bluescreen errors in WinXP that said: DEVICE DRIVER GOT STUCK IN BIOS settings are not tweaked. This would involve locating the jumper on the motherboard. http://mffonline.com/blue-screen/blue-screen.php Did you not say your ATI 9600 vid card ran fine in that mobo before?
I found some hardware monitoring software and logged my CPU temperature when Windows was idle and then when I was intensively running a game. I will look up your BIOS file so i can tell you exactly what to type and i want to make sure you get the right one. Like I said, I am new to all this so I might need a bit more elaboration. solved Is Geforce 6600 GT any use for me? I have no such trouble with the old video card and I tried several different versions of the NVIDIA drivers with the very same hang. Download an updated ASRock BIOS file (WinZip format with .zip file extension) from the web site, unzip the BIOS file and save both ASRFLASH.EXE utility and BIOS file to the disk Any ideas as to whether or not my card is ruined???
If the darn card manufacturers would standardize their register maps someone might make a decent diagnostic program for video cards in general. Sometimes it happens right off the bat and sometimes not. I did try updating the drivers but it didn't seem to make any difference. "beginning dump of physical memory." Equals rebuild on Other then that it doesn't seem there would be any issues hardware wise if a 9600 was running fine in the system before.
