I don't have much of anything installed on the system. After that, take a look at what black viper recommends for things you can turn off on XP to improve performance... There are free disc-cloning apps that makes the whole process of upgrading a HDD a simple, quick and painless task. Should I uninstall it and install something a bit smaller like Avira Antivirus?

I carefully upgrade all these parts, and it runs almost identically as to when it was running the old stuff that it came with. Make sure the P4 is the 2.8/512/400 because there are other FSB (Front sidfe buss) speeds 2.8 P4's out there and they won't work. Download a free program like SpeedFan or RealTemp and see what kind of temperatures the CPU is putting out. I'm not sure how this compares to the 2350. Just to minimize a window, it will freeze the computer for under 1 sec -(where you can see the window you just minimized, but can just start to see the desktop.) It's running Windows XP home premium. 32 bit.
