If you look closely, there are small LOCK and UNLOCK icons on either side of the space wher you would turn. When powered on, the power light comes on and i can hear the disc drive spinning but no display on screen. Both Robert and AK detail how to reassemble and solve this issue. back together and so far so good, also threw away fan filter.
posting this message on the fixed machine :) I had no need to seperate the cpu or add grease... The diagnostic does not even detect that the fan is spinning. The problem is ... my review here I followed the manual instructions to remove the keyboard and the EMI Shield.
Thanks again! After visiting this site, I decided to go ahead and remove the heatsink, fully clean it & apply Artic Silver. Until a week ago, it'd start once a day or so, run as long as I wanted, but then once it is shutdown.. After probably 10min everything froze, the screen turned black and i had to shut it down by pushing the start button.\015\012Now i can start it, but its getting really hot unnormally This might be preventing a good connection. If you update your BIOS the fan may turn on (and Off) at another temperature than before - so be patient.
