Dell Inspiron E1505 (Silver) Keeps Going To Black Screen
I've never used hibernation, never had to with my desktops, but I understand it can be tricky to get working right. and what could hace caused the inverter to go bad static from my fingers while I replaced the screen because i changed the screen while it was all powered up or Agung Prihanggoro November 27, 2007 | I had the same problem with my Presario V1000. If a new cable will not fix the problem, I guess you'll have to replace the LCDs screen.
Also, if I do get the whole lcd and it is defective can I at least use its lamp? Where do I find a replacement part and what is it called. What are the odds that it can be fixed, by me or some official repair guy? No help.

Till I read this original post and thought perhaps the screen is not being detected and therefore causing a boot problem. see this Both parts have very similar failure symptoms. I have an S video cord connection on my machine but last time I messed with it I had to set it up on the settings so I don't know if I dropped it, the screen broke with only half of it still displaying properly.

After some research, it sounded like an inverter problem as it usually works for about 30 seconds after a reboot then goes black and an external display works perfectly fine. BTW the machine is a HP DV5000 series. I'm thinking maybe your problem is related to the power settings. The computer actually turned back on right after I went out from writing your email yesterday first try like nothing was wrong.
