My primary question: the RAM is under warranty – should I take it back, or this a problem with the motherboard? If it does work, running in single channel mode will negatively impact system performance. At the very least, do not run the Corsair with the G.Skill. it's a lot like buying ram sticks that are not on the supported ram list for your mbod. it's a crap shoot. Kits of 2, 3, 4 sticks etc are supposed to be tested by the manufacturer before shipping to ensure compatibility and even then sometimes you get a bad stick, incompatibility issues, useful reference I havent take out my CPU to check, let me check it out.
