When I restarted the PC the problem had resolved itself with both 2TB HDD working perfectly. If the BIOS does not see the disk then there is no way anything else on the computer will detect the disk. Buy an external USB Dvd drive is the usual answer, as its a LOT cheaper than a new mobo.... I will await your response after the computer is back from repair.
