I turned the laptop off took the battery out took the power cord out turned it upside down held the power button down for 30 seconds. When the battery lamp is lit but the AC lamp remains dark, the AC power brick might be dead or the AC power from the wall might be messed up or Once done, leave both disconnected from the laptop for at least a minute.

this worked for me....i have an HP. I saw this on PC Advisor and thought you should see it too. You may need a new motherboard.
