The main reason people go for it is its price to performance ratio. Is Sli Worth It 2016 I believe even 1070 SLI at around $800 would outperform a single Titan X. Why? Games are increasingly using rendering effects that are simply incompatible with AFR and thus SLI as a whole.

With my crossfire setup, I constantly had to fiddle with drivers and settings to get different games working, and that's really the worst part about it, imo. Where it can make a lot of sense is say you have a Radeon 290 already (similar to the 390), you can get one second hand nowadays for under $200, which Crossfire has a bit more wiggle room, allowing you to pair some GPUs with other similar cards—like a Radeon 7950 with a Radeon 7970.
