So I updated it. I have not tried to remove WMP yet.... The symptoms were: 10 to 30 second freezes with constant hard-drive activity (ie, the hard-drive light was on). Recovered after that. What solved the problem?
I tried one more time and left it on the login screen for 5 minutes, however after entering the password the laptop completely freezes again. But it would never recognize the USB, hence trying with a disc.I am now downloading a different version from MSDN (Windows 7 N 64-bit with SP 1) (the N is different) It was a big flop on NVIDIA's side, esp. solved Random freezing with windows 7.
